Are you Managing Your Stress? A recent study found that women who experience a greater number of stressors (work, family, illness) in mid-life were more likely to develop dementia. Dr. Oz’s shared recently, “chronic stress can trigger inflammatory compounds and damage areas of the brain linked to memory.” By the way, I teach “Brain Fitness”, for LAUSD, which is a course much like aerobic classes for memory.

September Healthy Eating

JOIN ME: I am committed to healthy eating. This week I am eating for brain health, with a focus on foods that are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s belong to a group of fats known as polyunsaturated fats, and studies suggest that they can help ward off a range of diseases, including Alzheimer’s and depression. Flaxseeds, walnuts, sardines, salmon and tofu are all excellent sources of omega-3s. You’ll find some in the delicious recipes I gathered in AARP, and I’ve included here. Try the recipes. Welcome to the Second Act

Recently, I have been asked the how and why of the Zankli novels and brand. I would like to share. It is really not that complicated. Simply put, it is a response to our economic and social climate… and a tactic for survival. After spending more than forty years as a homemaker, community advocate, and adult educator, I authored a series of paranormal romance thrillers. What is unusual about this deed is that I did not begin writing until I was 60. Even more uncommon was that the first book in the series was not published until three years ago, when I was 66.
